My service advisor says its working as designed, just shrugs his shoulder when the issue very clearly demonstrated each and every time 🤦*♂️
I've been driving a BMW 530 rental car this week and what a pleasure! While not an suv, it has no throttle lag issues and the transmission is buttery smooth. Just an observation but not enough to make me switch. Will try out the Cayenne soon.

The D5 (current) AUDI A8 has the same engine as the Q8. They appear not to have the issues discussed here. Could the program on the ECU for the A8 be different from the Q8? Could one flash the A8 program onto the Q8 ECU? Somebody should ask their service advisor to test this concept. Maybe the easy fix to address aforementioned issues.

Just teach your son to put the transmission into sport mode with two pulls back on the shifter. This shuts off the AS/S and changes the shift pattern.

hi to all,
i'm from France with a 3.0 diesel engine, i had my first new Q8 in August and had the same issues, sold it to choose another color i took another Q8 2020 version, its worse i even have a clunk when on a full stop with start and stop on, seem that the gearbox is sleeping when i go out from the stop.
going to Audi tomorrow for this issue.
what are your dealers saying ?
thanks

Almost a full month with the Q8. Just took a road trip with the wife and kid to Virginia (7 hour drive each way). Was able to stretch her legs and test the power of this marvelous machine! Its not the quickest truck but it does get to speed rsther fast and keeps up with all the other luxury trucks on the road easily!
Now about this lag/throttle issue....NOTHING! I had my cousin drive it around town to see if he experienced anything as described in this thread...NOTHING!
I must be lucky I guess. Car drives like a dream and reccomend it highly if you have the means to get one. Cheers!

Honestly, my 2017 Porsche Cayenne S sometimes has a little jolt and hesitation when the auto start/stop function enabled. I think that it's a little less noticeable because the Cayenne doesn't have the 40-volt battery in play and the Cayenne S has 420hp vs the 335hp in the Q8 Stateside.

I have a Q8 bought in September. This is 100% a major issue. In fact i was coasting behind a car and went to pull out to pass and the same thing happened and almost got into an accident. Happens mostly when coasting into intersections to make sure they are clear and then get the 2-3 second delay. This is very dangerous; especially how it is not consistent!
