Just curious where you are located that the dealer said it will not void the warranty?

Audi West Houston. Reginald Prater is the ABT service tech and they are an authorized ABT dealer. I spoke with him on Friday.

I am pretty sure the ABT controller will TD1 flag the car but I assume the dealer will work with you on it.
i may have to check with the Audi/ABT dealer in my state and see what they say.

Everything I read said it wouldn't. They work in tandem and is undetectable by the Audi factory ECU.

Each tuning is risky from the point of view of voiding the warranty. ABT is one of the least risky in this group for several reasons.
1/ ABT has been working closely with Audi for many years. It even has an Audi part number. Therefore, it is installed by some dealers and tolerated by others.
2/ ABT AEC is not a piggyback. This is an additional computer that takes over the engine control under certain circumstances. It's just a bypass of the original ECU.
Read more here: https://autofidelity.com.au/performance-tuning-abt/
3/ ABT does not offer spectacular power increases in this solution, but it usually delivers what it promises. I checked it many times on the dyno.
There is no tuning that is undetectable by the dealer. If everything is OK, no one is messing with the parameters stored in the car controllers and is not interested in tuning if it is not ostentatiously visible. Worse if there is a problem. Tuning is a change of factory parameters that are saved in the car's controllers. So even if we reload back the factory software to the ECU, disassemble piggyback or remove ABT AEC, these tuning forms will leave the traces in the car controllers in the form of historically changed parameters of the engine or transmission. And this is usually enough to prove the not allowed (by the manufacturer) tuning of the car on warranty.

This is how ABT looks like in my SQ8:

I just got back from getting APR flashed on my Q8. I can't say I can really tell the difference yet. There seems to be a better throttle response. Nothing to blow my mind. It also is just a regular Q8.

The gains are not bad for the petrol SQ8. 640hp and 626tq. Looks like a nice install Retom and probably the most tolerated as you said.

I am afraid that ABT power unit (AEC) has Component Protection and can't be used in the other car.
