Had a situation this weekend where I couldn't find our regular key, so dug the spare out and tried it... no joy. While the indicator lamp on the key flashed, I couldn't start the car. I found the regular key, and, figuring the issue was the battery, purchased and installed a new battery in the spare. No change... I've looked through the owner's manual for information and have queried the web, but all of the key reset videos on the web include inserting the 'key' into the keyhole on the driver's door and the manual's direction to place the key in the 'designated location' doesn't help. I'm assuming that the problem is due to not using the spare for an extended length of time, but would like to figure out a way to revive it short of waiting until my next visit to the shop. Any ideas? Thanks!

Finally went to the dealer with this problem... Bad key. Under warranty, so no charge.
