Decided to do the oil change on the SQ8. I've put almost 10k miles on it in 6 months. Went to local autoparts store for 10gallons of Mobil 1 5w40 synthetic and a Wix oil filter (total $100). All you need is torx bits and a 32mm socket
Basic process:
1)remove radiator cover
2)remove airbox and air filter
3)detach front cross brace and rotate it forward to expose oil filter
4)use 32mm socket to remove oil filter cover
5)replace old oil filter with new one, use new O-ring on the filter cover
6)remove carbon fiber underbelly tray to expose oil pain
7)torx bit to remove oil pan bolt and drain oil
8)replace oil pan bolt (use new crush washer if available)
9)reattach underbelly tray
10)fill with 10quarts oil
11)use OBD Eleven to reset oil service warning

10 quarts??? My RSQ8 only takes 9.5 qts so why 10 in your SQ8?
I checked the oil level only on the display - I don't have a dipstick and with the way the car consumes oil (2 qt per 10k miles) I assume any overfill will burn off quickly lol
Curious, does the Mobil 1 meet the required specs?
I read that the SQ8 is VW 511 00 spec, which is for GPF equipped cars. The US SQ8 (and US cars in general) don't have the GPF so I am not sure it applies. This is probably a Bob is the oil guy - type question
The European formula 5w40 I used is WV 505 spec, not meant for GPF/DPF. The Mobil 1 website recommends Mobil 1 european ESPX3 C40 rated 0w40 which I used in my 992 turbo S

Mobil 1 0w40 ESP X3 (and 0w40 ESP X4) does have VW 511 00 spec. 5w40 does not.
Didn't work on my 2023 SQ8. The oil filter housing is blocked by a turbo oil line. I had to go back to the dealer and get a seal for the oil line. I wish mine was that easy. Removing the oil line every time I do an oil change is just something else that could possibly go wrong.
