Has anyone found a quality racing seat to fit the R8?

The stock R8 seats are quite beautiful, but they leave much to be desired when one drives the R8 on a hi speed twisting race track. I also feel the same about the R8's metal bracket shifter plate on the R8's manual transmission. It seems that Audi wanted to copy a part of the legendary Ferrari design in this? And maybe this was the wrong part to copy!!?
... It will probably be awhile before we get a good alternative to replace the difficult gear shift plate, but I am hoping that someone has maybe found a good solution for some quality racing seats that can be switched back with the original stock seats, without too much trouble. ( Like Porsche and its GT3 seats)

I also remember that the first showroom concept of the R8 included the RS4 seats.
It looks so much aggressive.

only if you don't drive the car everyday. They are quite difficult to get in and out (even in a RS4 so I can't imagine that with the R8) but once you get into it it is extremely comfortable.

Thnx guys! I know where to look now! I haven't installed a 5 pt race harness yet until I have better racing seats. I am currently using the CG Lock system that locks a 3 pt seat belt into a very tight configuration. This helps in holding my body against the strong lateral G forces as I move fast thru the twisties, but it isn't the same as having good race seats. The R8 can certainly pull the G's in the corners!<ul><li><a href="http://www.racingseatsonline.com/product_info.php?cPath=2709&products_id=5774&a mp;gclid=CMTj5Om5jZMCFQciIgodgGFGUw">http://www.racingseatsonline.com/product_info.php?cPath=2709&products_id=5774&a mp;gclid=CMTj5Om5jZMCFQciIgodg

I was told at the factory however, it's not an option "legally" available on US spec cars. Apparently the sport seat doesn't have the side air bags, or something. If you do fit a seat, the factory guide mentioned that one may also have to know how to override the airbag fault code that will be generated by disconnecting the ones in the regular seats. FWIW, some Club groups (notably Porsche, but some of the other HPDE groups/regions are discussing following suit) are requiring the SAME seats/harnesses etc. be installed for both driver and passenger sides.

and since the doors on the R8 are bigger than the TT's, you can expand your search to include race seats compatible with the TT.

Hey Bodhii, I have the Schroth snap in 4 point system in my RS6 and loved it as a partial solution.. wish there was a simple solution for the R8.. The idea of adding an anchor bar and completely replacing the stock belt is disagreeable. I asked HMS Motorsport (the US importer) to check with Schroth Germany to see if they have provided any solutions in Europe
