Dealers in LA seem to be glutted with R8 inventory lately.
Have they just chosen to taken inventory from all the cars sitting on the ports, thinkin' that the holidays will bring buyers?
I'm personally holding out for the V10 version, but also b/c I don't think the V8 version is worth the $140-150k price tag (OTD).
Some of the bigger dealers have 3-5 R8's available now.

no more cars in the pipeline for a while. If the car is a high demand item overall, then it makes sense to grab all you can, and sit on them a while. Say it takes 8 months before we see another round of R8s. Come Spring when people start car shopping in earnest, dealers with an R8 in stock will be sitting pretty.
When I sold cars, if we saw there was going to be a halt in production, we stocked up as much as possible. Customers who would see all this inventory, would think we were glutted and ready to deal. We were always ready to deal, but maybe not as much as they thought, as we knew that in a few months no other dealers would have inventory.

I'd love to know what the current inventory at US dealers is for the R8. A dealer here in NC has 3 on the floor, all the result of customer orders that fell through. I've also talked to a few other dealers, everybody seems to have at least 1, many have at least 2. I'd like to strike a deal for one but am seeing limited flexibility on pricing - at least so far. None of the dealers I'm talking to are talking markups over MSRP, but so far, no body is talking discounts either.

I would love to buy a R8 at major discount. My hope is that depreciation hits these cars in a big way much like what happened to Aston Martin. For example, I see low mileage 2 year old Aston Martins that cost over 140k new selling for 60k with a few miles on them. Hopefully the R8 goes the same route. I love the car but definitely not worth 140k. Seems that Ferrari and Lamborghini hold value a lot better than Audi and Aston Martin.
