Default 1991 Audi 90 - Problem With Rear Speakers

Hello Everyone,

I have an Audi 90 whose rear left speakers would intermittently go off by itself. It's been off for quite a while now, and I initially assumed it was my stereo system, so i'd put in a Pioneer Premeir P310 (w/CD) into it.

However, the problem remained there. I'd normally assume that the speaker itself is defective, but the thing is, sometimes my RIGHT FRONT speakers would go off by itself too.. Furthermore, when I use the fader and Balance controls all the way to the REAR LEFT speakers, I hear the music coming in from the RIGHT RIGHT speakers, leading me to assume my car must have some sort of control unit which distributes the power...

Would any of you guys have a suggestion for me?

Thanks in advance

Sounds like it could be a loose connector. I had a similar problem in my '95 90 when I first bought it. I'm running my own speaker wires now from a seperate amp so it hasn't been an issue for me for some time. I would check the connector at the rear speaker. I could be wrong but I believe that the amp on the rear active speakers also run the fronts as well, which would explain why the right front is shutting off at the same time.

The rear speakers have built-in amps, the fronts run off the amp in the head unit.
