Default 1992 Audi 100CS speaker problem

I had professionally istalled about 6 months ago a Kenwood AM/FM/CD unit. I left in the original Bose speakers. Ever since installation I've had 4 or 5 occurrences where a "humming" noise came from the speakers. The noise would start low and very quickly get VERY loud. The only way to "fix" the problem was to shut the radio off for a short period of time. The humming hasn't occured in the last few weeks but I notice that the volume of the music coming out of the right front and rear speakers is very very low.
Any advice on how to correct the problem? Do I need to replace the 2 speakers?

Yes, I'm pretty sure the installer (The Wiz Electronics store) didn't nothing to the speakers.
