I recently reaquired this car. (Another story). The car has a factory stereo with cassette. What is the easiest/cheapest/best way to add a CD player? Help. Thanks.

would be to just buy a new cd-player in a car audio shop, take out the cassette-player and put the cd-player in there instead. You will probably need some spacers, as I believe the Audi stereo is slightly wider than the standard size and you need the spacers to make standard-sized players fit ok.
Downside is you lose cassette-playing capability, also it won't look as nice as a real Audi player.
It could be possible to mount an external cd-shifter in the boot, connected by a long cable to the back of your existing stereo, but I think it unlikely.
You could go to the local wrecking yards and look for broken Audis with cd-player still intact, then you will not have to worry about spacers and interior will look more original than with some generic brand player.
"Best" way but also most expensive would be to go to your Audi dealer and have them install a new player.
