Default 2002 A6 AUX IN Adapter from autotoys.com or Blitzsafe??

I'm wanting to hook up a MP3 player and I have checked to see that the 13-pin cable is there. I have a 2002 A6 with the Bose upgrade. I'm thinking that I have the Symphony II head unit, because the hidden EQ is not there. It has a 6-disc changer in the dash, but it also has the cable in the trunk. However, I have heard that these adapters don't work for the 2002 models. Has anyone used them in a 2002, and if so which one and where did you get it???

TIA

Default I think you might be ok, since yours is wired to the trunk...

In my 2002 A4, there is no pre-wiring for the external cd changer. My manuals state that the Symphony II can use either a trunk mounted external changer, like previous years, or a glovebox mounted external changer, which is a different design (6 disc stacker, like the head unit has). From what I've heard, the cable that connects this style of changer has a different pin configuration, so the Autotoys adapter won't work. However, since yours is wired for the normal trunk mounted changer, I suspect that the pin config should be the same as previous years and the adapter might work.

If you could get your hands on the Audi cd changer from an older car, you could test this pretty easily. If the changer works, so should the autotoys adapter.

There's a firmware issue with the Blitzsafe cable and the Symph II HU. At
least one person has reported that he got a working cable from Blitzsafe, so
it appears they have the firmware fix available. However, at least one other
person has not been able to extract an upgrade out of them. If you bought a
new cable today, it would be a coin-toss as to whether it would work out-of
-the-box with a Symph II.
