Default 2004 A6 Audio Setup

Just bought an '04 A6 2.7T S-Line. It's got the stock Symphony audio set up.

I'd like to make a few upgrades (nothing crazy). Can anyone tell me the number, size, watts, etc. of the speaker setup? I can't seem to find this anywhere.

If I want to keep the factory head unit (don't want to mess up the clean look), will I need an amp to power upgraded speakers?

Assume I know nothing about car audio (which is close to true).

Thanks!

Yes, definitely. Since my original post, I think I've learned that the front door speakers (components) are powered from the head unit, with the rear door speakers (components) powered by an amp located somewhere in the trunk.

Also, some say there's also a small sub in the trunk that's also powered by that amp.

I'd like to replace the factory speakers with Infinity Kappas, upgrade the sub (a bit) and amp.

Do I have the setup correct? What's the first step in upgrading this? I can't find the darn sub or amp anywhere in the trunk.

So, what's the word? I tried removing the door panels, and got them off but the electrical connections were not as described in various posts here. Much more complicated in appearance than some on here described. Maybe I'm just too big of a wuss to really dig into them to disconnect.

And as for locating the amp and sub in the trunk? Forget about it.

Anyone have the answer to my original question? Avincar, you seemed to imply you had the goods.
