The factory CD Changer on my 98 A4 2.8 Quattro is malfunctioning. My vehicle has 76K miles on it, so no warranty option here. CDs load, but 90% of the time or so I get CD(#)ERR1 on all 6 CDs. I am unwilling to put another unit in UNLESS it will be controlled by the factory radio. There will be no after market CD remotes cluttering the design of my beautiful vehicle. Audi Cust. Relations suggests that I have the problem diagnosed by a dealer to confirm that the problem is the changer & not the radio. This is a pain because the Austin Audi dealer is incompetent. I strongly suspect the changer here. I found one place that will take a look at the changer, $210 minimum! I am still looking for a repair place in Austin willing to take the unit and give me an estimate without a $200 commitment . Anybody have any alternative ideas?
