Is the Bose worth the money or should i just rip the whole thing out? I'm planning on putting in the Alpine LCD screen and DVD decoder. will the stock Bose be up to the challange? or should I have the whole system redone? I liked the way the Boston Acoustics TT turned out. If anyone has done this PLEASE send me pics!!!! I beg of you!
~~f3dex

I did the following to my audio:
Eclipse 7002 5.8" LCD Head Unit
Eclipse 6951 6-Disc Changer
Panasonic CX-DV1500 DVD Player
Audiovox TV Tuner
Alpine V12 MRV-F303 4ch amplifier
Rockford Fosgate 360A2 2ch amplifier
MB Quart 215.03CX 5.25" Component Speakers (Front)
2x JL Audio 12W6 Woofers in sealed box
I originally had the Bose system, but in installing this system (did all of the install myself) I ended up changing virtually everything, including all of the wiring. Only a few things remain from the OEM audio system:
1) Head unit 12V battery wire
2) Head unit ground wire
3) Head unit 12V acc power wire
4) Head unit 12V headlight power wire
5) Head unit antenna wire
Everything else is brand new--I'll have pics up in the next week or so...if you have any specific questions, e-mail me...

You don't even have to be an audiophile to tell that the bose system sucks.... that is based on what you pay for their stuff.
Do yourself a favor and see for yourself.... Before you spend any money, take a couple of your favorite cd's that you are really familiar with to a few local high end stereo shop and ask them if they will let you audition a system that they have done... (usually the guys in the shop have done great systems in their own cars). Listen to their systems and be amazed.... THEN go to the Audi dealer and listen to a "premium" bose system and ask yourself why you can't hear half of the subtleties in the music that were so apparent on the aftermarket systems.
I still can't figure out why people opt to spend so much extra money on so-called premium sound systems from the factory when the final result is average at best. Maybe at half the price it might be a decent upgrade for a casual listener, but if you are at all serious about your music you can do so much better for the same amount of money if you go aftermarket.
