Thanks to all who have previously posted on this - it seem to me all I need to do is purchase the DICE unit which uses the CD changer controls, and create CD1-6 playlists on the iPod to play.
My (stupid) question is - does the DICE unit connect to the back of the head unit replacing the CD changer cables, or does it plug into the CD changer plug in the back. I don't have a changer installed - does the car come pre-wired with the changer harness so that the plug exists in the back with just nothing connected?

Not entirely sure how it will be on your stereo, but mine was dummy-proof.
I unplugged the big orange plug, with three-rows of pins, from the back of the Head Unit.
Plugged in the 'male' Dice plug into the HU, plugged the chassis wires into the 'female' Dice socket, hooked up the Dice ground wire and I was good-to-go.
Hope your's goes as easily.
