Default Adding a sub to a B6

2002 A4 3.0Q tip.

Factory headunit, non-bose. I have a decent 10" sub in a hatchback/trunk box sitting in the basement with a 200w amp and one of those speaker output variable gain adapters. It works fine and it doesn't fit in my pickup so maybe I ought to put it in the wife's A4. Whats involved in this? Obviously I have to pop out the headunit and splice into the wires...any remote chance the factory headunit supports RCA line out so I cna bypass the adapter and run into the amp directly? Does anyone know where I can access a wiring diagram and where to purchase a headunit removal tool? Lastly, does anyone have any preferred grounding points in the trunk? I plan on just keeping the amp screwed to the box, unless there are good reasons to put it elsewhere.

Along the same topic, the FM reception in this car simply horrible. We had the headunit replaced when we bought the car due to a bad display, so I have no comparison...is the factory unit a bad FM receiver or do I maybe have a bad or disconnected antenna wire?

Thanks in advance.

FM reception blows because ur antena amp is shot (common problem located driver side above rear window under plastic trim).

Use the search to find th epinout for the amp that is mounted in the trunk. You can tap that for a 12v on/off as well as line level inputs.

Default Ground the amp to the two parallel frame rails or...

..run an 8 gauge ground wire to the rear seatbelt bolts.

Make sure you scrape the paint to get to bare metal if you ground to body metal.

The antenna amp is a straight replacement I assume and not a repairable item, recommended vendor or is it one of those things thats so damn expensive that I'm better off replacing the headunit? PITA to get to or fairly easy?

Does the factory non-bose system have a sub already? If so, where is it? Would I get more bang for my buck by simply replacing the existing driver or moving the existing sub's wires to my 10" kicker?

Why not run a LOC off the rear speakers and leave the head unit alone? That's what I am going to do.
