Alpine CD Changer w/ factory head unit - 1997 A6 Wagon?
My 1997 A6 Wagon does not have a CD changer but does have the upgraded Bose sound system. Anyway, I believe the head unit is pre-wired for the CD changer. As it happens I have a newer Alpine changer that I'm no longer using in another car. I'm not an electronics junkie nor an audiophile by any stretch but would like to have a CD function in the car. How can I use this Alpine changer in my A6? Assuming it's possible, I'm guessing I may need an adapter, correct? (I seem to recall that only the Audi CD changer will work with the pre-wire) If so, where do I get the adapter and how much should I expect to pay?

These guys do them for M Bus Alpine changers, but they are in UK
and they're not cheap.
You'll need to check whether the bus cable is 8 pin or 13 pin, it's probably an 8 pin on a 97.
TBH you're better off selling the Alpine and buying an OEM changer on ebay.<ul><li><a href="http://www.icd-ltd.com/main.html">http://www.icd-ltd.com/main.html</a</li></ul>
