Default Custom door build is not just to give you more space, it's mainly to provide a solid

baffle for the speaker to kick against. Mounted on flimsy hardboard door card will drastically limit the quality & mid bass of any speaker.
If it's a B6/B7 then the speaker is mounted to the actual steel of the door so it's not a problem.

Default Nah, if you already have them it doesn't hurt to try it out.

I just didn't really like them in my install. Yours could be different.

Default Agreed. Some suggestions...

Hit up the front doors with some Dynamat.

Use an amp that has a built in x-over where you can filter out the lowest bass frequencies.

Good idea. I might just build a few xovers to spec...good to know they are worth trying at least.

Default Dayton Reference RS-150-4 ($60 for the pair)

I've got more of a home audio perspective, but good drivers are good drivers. As with nearly any metal cone, these need a high slope low pass crossover, notch filter, or both.

RS-125 is good for a smaller driver.
