Just installed infinity components up front and in back, Infinity kappa 5-ch amp, and infinity 10 in sub. With car off, sound is excellent. With car on...oh boy. I cannot believe the amount of electrical noise that is coming out of those speakers. A low pitched "da..da..da..da..da" that is the time with the rpm's, increase rpm's and the frequency of the sound increases. the high pitched whine get's higher with higher rpm's. 8 AWG power wire (fosgate) routed through ECU housing and down the left side of the car. Amp mounted under rear deck. Grounded on rear deck. Unidirectional 15awg fosgate shielded speaker wire running up the passanger side. All connections and wiring is pretty much "by-the-book" Does anyone have any ideas or places for me to start looking?

Foo,
Maybe you can help....It is grounded to the rear deck on the left side (where the seat belt tensioner is located.) I used a grinding stone and took it to the metal today. i am still having bad electrical interference. What connections do you suggest that I check? Speaker connections are fine. Connections at the amp are fine. I am going to hook up the front line levels from the symphony headunit tomorrow. That may help if the interference in coming from the rear line level inputs (tapped into the wiring at the rear speaker.) I also think that I am going to run RCA's from the headunit to the amp for the rears as well, and do away with the patch into the rear line levels.
Would the power wire being to close to a speaker wire or the line level wire in the rear cause this?Any thoughts appreciated! TIA,
patrick

Do you think that I need to move the ground? Could the amp being so close to it couse this? Keep in mind the amp is touching the very same metal that it is grounded to...
just another thought...
thanks,
Patrick

Every electronic item in the car is grounded to the cars body (except the neg terminal on the battery). Having the ground near the amp is a good thing... it decreases interferance because there is less wire to interfere with other systems/wires.<p>Dan

any place where metal connections can touch the car... keep rca's away from other wiring inside the car (that almost NEVER is the cause, but in this case who knows?) another thing to TRY is another set of rca's... poor manufacturing can be a cause in a few cases...other than that consult an installer, they might give u a few ideas for free before they charge ya.
