Alright...So i have two JBL P1220D II subs. They are 400w RMS and 1600w peak. They are dual voice coil. I recently fried both of my amps...sucks...
I need some help in getting new amps or amp. What should I be looking for. I've forgotten what I used to know. The whole ohm thing is messing me up. They are dual 2-ohm voice coils... How powerful of an amp should I be looking for. I'd really like to run them both on one amp using both coils. Any recommendations? Thanks

if it is a 400w rms x 1 at 4 ohms and 800w at 2 ohms if I wired each coil to each channel on a mono amp...would i be getting 400w x 2 @ 2 ohms? or would it be 800w x 2 @ 1 ohm? I don't get it...

which amp would be powerful enough to power both subs off of it? at 2 ohms for each? does wiring it parallel lower the ohms to 1? or does it keep it at 2 ohms?

is to find a good car audio shop. 2 things i'd look for, first tell them you have an audi watch to see if they shudder and if they don't then ask to see samples of their work if their work is first rate then their products will be as well choose a name you trust

If you wire the coils in parallel and then wire the subs in parallel, you'll get 0.5 ohm. If you wire the coils in series and then wire the subs in parallel you'll get a 2 ohm mono load. If you wire the coils in series and then the subs in series you'll get an 8 ohm mono load. Not many amps are rated for 0.5 ohm loads so forget that. 2 ohms would be optimal but you'll have to make sure the amp is rated to handle 2 ohms mono. 8 ohms would work on any amp but you'll only be getting half the rated power at 4 ohms.
