I'm having problems connecting the factory antenna to my Pioneer (P7000CD - P7000R) head unit.
The FM reception is really below par - We tested the Factory wire; and it seems that its different from regular antenna wires in that -> Regular antennas: the inner wire is Seperate from the outer wire. Whereas with the factory wire, we found that the inner and outer wires are CONNECTED !?! This works perfectly fine with the stock symphony unit, but not with the Pioneer stuff. Can anybody give any insights? -> Or even tell me where to find the antenna wire coming from the rear window? (Left side? Right side etc...)
Really starting to puzzle me...
On another note, the parking brake wires are both Grounds; not one positive, one ground - but you guys probably already know that.
Thanks!@!!

I recently installed an Alpine head unit, my reception is sketchy also. The guyz put on a "FM Booster" which works ****ty too. It is probaly the fact that the antenna setup in the car IS NOT GEARED FOR A DAMN THING! A freakin bent hanger with tin-foil would sound better then my $1300 b-s "Multi Media" P.O.S. does.
THANK YOU FOR LISTENING, i needed someone to hollar at!!

you have to use the powered antenna adaptor shown in Mark P's post. It's easily obtainable at any local stereo shop. I got mine at Best Buy for something like $8 bucks. As I had mentioned in previous posts, you probably won't find it in the store with all the rest of the accessories. You need to go into the road shop (around back) and ask the installer for the adaptor they would use when installing an aftermarket head unit in either a VW or an Audi...(they both use the same one). They have all those "special" accessories in the shop. If they don't have one, there's something wrong with them. It's a basic part they HAVE to use with an aftermarket headunit.
To hook it up, you connect the power antenna lead wire off the back of your aftermarket head unit to the power lead on the adaptor... then connect the actual antenna cable from the car to the adaptor, then the antenna wire from the adaptor to the head unit... and VIOLA! you have reception!
