I am looking at ordering an Orion xTreme series amplifier for my upcoming S4. Any thoughts on how good these are? I'm not all that familiar with Orion gear.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Just be sure to be a high quality brand that is reputable and provides both good customer service and rapid warranty service, and buy as many watts as you can afford. As for the minute sonic differences between similar amps, class A/B in this case, you won't notice. Look for the features that you want and need, rather than brand names. I value high efficiency and cooling ability, for instance. You may look for built in crossovers and RCA outputs.

I have an Orion Extreme 400 (2 channel) in my Passat. It's about 1.5 years old and I use to for my 1 12" JL Audio W0. Let me tell you it kicks ***. With this amp, I have blown the voice coil on a 10" Bazooka AND one 12" Kicker Solo Baric (in 5 minutes)! It's a really powerful amp you can use it to run 2 or even 3 subs. But use an amp like it to power 1 good 12" sub and you will have more than enough bass.

That's just sad man! They aren't blowing due to the awesome power they are being fed. Your amp shouldn't blow the subs, it should mantain control over them. If the amp is indeed responsible for blowing them, have it repaired!
