Anybody familiar with the wiring of a 2001 VW GTI 2-piece headunit (main unit + in-dash CD player)?

I just installed the Icelink Plus in my wife's GTI and it works, but it's not turning on and off with the stereo.
The car was pre-wired for an external changer, which I had to unplug from the CD player portion of the headunit. When doing so, I noticed that one of the wires that is bundled with the stock CD changer cable is split out to the main headunit harness.
Am I correct in assuming that this is the switched power for the changer? Is it as simple as finding the same wire on the Icelink harness and moving that over to the main unit (replacing the wire from the changer harness)?
Any help would be appreciated,
