Default I have and it sounds excellent.

<center><img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/66252/avant_sub_installed_trim.jpg"></center><p>The stock sub is moulded to the bodywork in the righthand cubbyhole and there is absolutely no room because of the fuel tank.
I installed the amp on that side and put the enclosure on the left where there is plenty of room if you cut the back off the boot trim (do it neatly and keep the excess trim which could easily be retro fitted with some hotmelt come resale time.
I used a JL Audio 6.5" sub, but you could easily get an 8" unit in there.
What a difference, real punchy clean bass, well worth the effort. Probably the best single upgrade to the stock sound system.

Default Hoping to use one of these....

http://www.millionbuy.com/hbx8antcm.html

I bought one because it was cheap, but I don't know if it will fit yet. If I can shoehorn it into the driver's side rear compartment of my B7 avant I will. Otherwise I'll build a custom MDF box similar to MacSub's box.

From the look of MacSub's pic it looks like he could have fit a larger box in that space so I hope my box fits. He said in a previous post his box is 17" high, 7" deep with one side angled from 8" at the bottom to 12.5" at the top. (https://forums.audiworld.com/audio/msgs/48453.phtml)

I have done quite a bit of searching on the forum but still don't really know to remove the side trim from the cargo area. My question is whether or not I have to remove the seat backs, side bolsters AND the metal pin that sticks out of the side that the seats click into or some combination of the above. Anybody willing to offer detailed instructions?

Default Thanks halfnhalf, I couldn't remember the dimensions

There is more space but you'd lose depth as the bodywork starts to angle inwards with the curve of the rear wing.
