Metal cutting depends on depth of the driver. If you want to do 6 1/2s, then you'll be cutting.
Otherwise, you're going to have to use spacers, which will eat away at your cabin space and not look as good. You only have to cut for the magnet to fit in there, and if you ever go back to stock, nobody will ever know.
