Audi upgrade for Bose CC ?

Have '95 A6 with Bose. No AM reception and volume control is failing. I see tips about removing unit and cleaning contacts for volume control.Does this help?
Also, is antenna amplifier under rear
seat and does it affect AM reception? Can it be changed to improve AM reception?
What newer radio units,if any,would be plug 'n play replacements?

I dont know about your car but I have a "92 100 and my AM antenna is in the winshield and is a

seperate antenna from the FM amplifier. If my mind serves me it is either under the seat or behind the RR quarter panel cover in the trunk. I have heard of people spraying contact cleaner and even WD 40 to try and clean the **** contacts. (people seem to have mixed success)There is also a guy who has a hookup on the C4 forum that takes apart and repairs the **** problem for $50. So if all else fails it might be worth checking out.
