Audio questions and advice needed - 99 A6
hey guys...
some of you might have caught some of my questions earlier on, but didnt even notice that theres an audio page
anyways...
i just gotten my audi about 1 month ago and have noticed that the factory concert HU is pretty ****ty at everything and the speakers sounded like they'be been shoved into a toilet tank and to add to the platter would be a FR blown tweeter that sound like total crap!
so i have talked to a couple of guys the area but none of then dealt too much with audi and they are not quite too sure on speaker sizes and fittment and also they are pretty much scratching their heads when it comes down to wiring harness for an aftermarket deck and dash kit. go figgure.
so... after doing a lil bit of research on here found out that the front doors can take 6.5" speakers but still not sure if 6.5 can be fit in the rear doors and there seems to be a powered wooffer in the right side of the trunk (8" ??? DVC powered by an inboard amp that drives the rear door speakers as well)
i have already started to look at some HU's and narrowed it down to a Kenwood KVT-717
http://www.kenwoodusa.com/products/ListProduct.aspx?k1=2&k2=38&k3=149&pr= 1972
also want i nice clean sound so im opting to have the front and rears powered by a 5 Channel Memphis Belle (1300w Version), and 5th ch to drive the sub.
as for speakers i was going to use the Memphis M-series 6.5 component set for the front. Still waiting to find out what can really be fit into the rear doors before i go to get the amp and the speakers.
SO..
recap:
deck powers front speakers while the sub and rears are power by a separate amp located in rear enclosure. Is this correct ????
Also what size sub should suffice for a nice clean fill ??? was thinking along the lines of a single 10" or 12" in a sealed box hidden away where the factory one is.
