Blitzsafe adapter question...

I've seen them mentioned a few times in regard to getting line-level inputs to the Symphony head units... does anyone know any websites that describe how they work?
Does it, for example, interfere with the use of the CD changer? I assume so, but maybe they did something clever.

the Blitz Adapter works without the CD changer, and "fools" the H/U into thinking there is a changer present, and opens up the input at the 'Mode' switch.
This unit.

Blitz makes other adapters for other cars that describe what you want, but not for Audi's.
However, if you have the CD changer, you can add in a relay at the back of the H/U, cutting the line-level inputs from the CD changer into the H/U.
This provides you with an A/B line-level input to switch bet. the CD changer and an Aux. in, like a XM radio.
This input can be RCA's or mini-stereo, doesn't matter.
You need to have a CD in the changer to support the changers link to the H/U to open up the 'mode' switch.
Look at the link below.
I've done this on TT's, A4's and A6's.<ul><li><a href="http://home.attbi.com/~jbipes/ttr/auxin1.html">Aux Input to the OEM H/U with the CD Changer.</a></li></ul>

that simulates the protocol of the CD changer.
Protocol is simply a chip that contains the specific frequency and signals of the CD Changer.
The micro-controller is an 8-bit device that contains the code.
The parts are cheap, but the devils in the details.
Someone either reverse-engineered the code, or paid Audi/Panasonic for the code.

a dual input unit that is to come out in January. This unit will alow CD Changer/XM input all to the factory head unit.
Rumor is that you will only need to hit the MODE button to toggle through the inputs.
