Default Boominess from sub system

I have just moved my two subs into a new pre-fabricated box that fits and looks better in my trunk.

However, the bass is now very boomy and I can't seem to tune it out via the amp. I have been told that the box may be too big for the subs, causing the boom.

Does this sound right to you audio specialists? If so, how do I work out what size the box needs to be for each sub? Can I reduce the current volume of the box by adding some material inside it?

The subs are: 2 x 10" 4-ohm dvc Rockford Fosgate FFS1024. The only specs I could find are (being a superceded model):

Power Handling: 400Watts rms / 800Watts peak
Sensitivity: 84 dB(1W/1m)
Fs: 29 Hz
Vas: 1.10
Qts 0.53
Xmax: 0.51

Any help you guys can offer is greatly appreciated.

Default you can calculate it with the t/s parameters

and try to set ur qtc near .707 to get your proper box size

i dont remember the calculations but you can look them up online

Default The boominess is usually caused by a box being to small.

Is this a sealed box or ported? If it's sealed, a box that is too small will have less lutra low end response. If the box is extremely large, you reduce power handling of the sub and may drive it into overexcursion quicker. If you add polyfill to a small box, you can trick the sub into playing like it's in a larger box because the material slows down the reflected wave in the box making it seem like the box is bigger than it really is.

If we're talking about ported boxes, the size has to be just right along with the port dimensions otherwise you'll get some strange results. The dimension are specific to each sub so it's very unlikely that you can just switch subs, put it in the same ported box and expect similar results.
