BOSE question
I have a 2000 A6 2.7T 6 speed with a BOSE system. The word "BOSE" does not appear on the display at power on. I understand this may be normal and it may also be because the stereo is not "coded" with the BOSE equalization. Is this BOSE coding something that resides in the Symphony stereo or is the coding part of the car's ECU? If I installed a Symphony coded for BOSE from another car in my car would the stereo then display "BOSE" at power on?

Re: BOSE question
It may be that the radio unit is not in Bose-mode. I have a 2001 A6 2.7T with the Bose premium system and had to have the unit replaced because the CD started doing weird thengs. They put a new unit in it and gave it back to me. The stereo sounded like crap and I noticed that no Bose banner displayed when turning it on. I took it back to the dealer and they finally figured out that they had not flipped the switch that activated the Bose mode. After that, it returned to sounding great.
