Hi.
I love my Audi but not the fact that it's leased. Sooo I need to not deface my Bose HU. I have Bose speakers andI keep blowing a rear speaker (the right one 1 week into the car and the left one about a month back). I need to keep the HU but wanted to add an amp and subs. I hope to take them out and move them to my next audi when lease ends. So... 2 Questions:
Will adding subs take strain off my abused rear speakers?
What is a good setup? I'm thinking two 10s or a 12... I'm not looking to crack my windshield but would like to never hear a bass rattle again.
Thanks.

Some people are happy with one 12, others three 10's. I currently have one 12, and am quite happy with it, but I'll probably get 2 12's installed within the next couple of weeks because (yes, I'm greedy) I want MORE BASS!!!

jl stealthbox for simple bolt on. looks good, sounds better. this should be more than ample considering the stock hu/ amp is powering the interior speakers. i am not to sure how the aftermarket stuff works with the bose system though.

I have had a 10" Bazooka tube in my 2000, then went to a single 10". Then in my 2002 I put in a new single 10" and PPI amp. If you like your bass a lot then look at 2 10"s or a single 12 but most people would be quite happy with a single 10. Its a nice comprimise between added sound and space savings.
As for the stock speakers, have who ever is doing your install "cap" the stock speakers. This means that they add a capacitor to the speaker line heading into each speaker and cut off the low frequency from getting there. This allows the sub to do its job and the mods to do theirs efficiently. But for a real upgrade consider new door speakers that will make a HUGE difference.
