Default Can anyone tell me how to improve this system....

For a 2002TT Quattro Coupe.
Fronts: Either MB Quart QSD 216 or Focal 165W

Rears: MB Quart PKC 116 6.5" Coaxial (suggestions welcome)

Subs: 2x JL Audio 12W6's (I currently have these and these will likely be eventually replaced with W7's)

Amplifier: Memphis Belle 75x4 + 1100x1 (little less because the subs will be at 1.5 ohms, not 1)

I need suggestions, and the cheapest places to get this stuff also. And... if anyone knows good installers in the central to north NJ area who can do a nice custom job for the subs and amplifer (not too expensive) Oh, I am going for SQ mostly. Loud should not be a problem in this small of a vehicle.

Default The 16-2000D is a 2-channel Mono-block amp, not a 5 channel...

so 75w x 4 + 1100w x 1 will not be possible...Do you have 2 amps? The 16-2000D is a very very nice amp...Lot's of power, low distortion, Clean output circuitry...thumbs up!! This system will work great.......Although, let me add that the MB Quarts are SUPER BRIGHT speakers, no matter what line you get...Every set of MB's I have heard, no matter what the car, no matter what the conditions, are always so bright that I can't stand to listen them at high volumes for long periods of time...Although great speakers, I would not go that way...If you are looking for a metal dome tweet, Look into the Diamond Audios, either M651/M661 or ..even...the s500a/s600a ( I have the s600a's. They sound great! It is an aluminum dome, so it is not quite as harsh as the titanium in the MB's...If you get the s500/s600, you can even opt for a silk dome tweet!!! --s500s/s600s...These sound a lot warmer... Also consider the Infinity Perfects, Perfect5.1/6.1, they sound great...very warm with extended highs...

Default Also, actually, that's a lot of power...maybe even too much to safely run the W6's...

Look at the Infinity Perfect subs also...I like the Perfect's better than the JL's because they give a much tighter bass response than the JL's. The Jl's are kind of boomy... 600 watts RMS is a lot to put to the JL's, sure it can be done, but you are over stressing the sub...I guarantee the Perfects will be able to handle that amount of power...The INIFITY PERFECT's DROP DOWN TO 18 Hz IN THE CAR!!! - Not on the test bench..but in the car...18 Hz!!! That's low...The JL states 20-25 Hz, but that is on a test bench where they get power from a large circuit board in the wall, not in a mobile envoirnment with a car altenator. The Perfect Subs have 3" PEAK TO PEAK EXCURSION!!! They have an ALUMINUM WOOFER CONE which is much lighter and stiffer than the JL's polyprop...Think about it...If you look, you can find these subs for $200-$250...DVC....I have a PPI PC21400 pushing 700 watts RMS x 2 at 2 ohms for these subs...awesome subs...

Default I noticed that about the MB Quarts... I had them in my previous car...

They hurt my ears sometimes after extended periods. That's why I was kinda leaning toward the Focal Utopias. I don't care about metal versus silk, more the sound, and I do understand the difference. I am not familiar with the Diamond Audios.

Default I was eventually going to replace my W6's with 12W7's actually.

But do you think that this is too much bass. Oh, also see below the amp was the 16-ST1300D. I was also considering the Eclipse DVC aluminums. But again, this is in a TT, so very small, I would go 10's but I have never seen them hit the lows as well. Either way, the subs will be eventually replaced. Though it would be nice to have both worlds and be able to have a primarily SQ install that can put out some serious SPL.
