Thats a great way to do it. Rear speakers are technically called "rear fill" for a reason ... they are the last concern in true quality sound.

how are PPI amps? I'm about to get a JL Audio 12" enclosure adn MB quarts
for the doors. I'm looking for a 4 or 5 channel amp to power it all. Do you like the PPI stuff? I was thinking to try MTX as a reccomended, inexpensive alternative.

what the heck?!?!?!...a great way to do it...
is to put the speakers on true amplification. at least run them off the same channels as the front speakers and run a circuit to them to tone them down a bit. headunit power is mediocre at best, quite a bit of clipping will happen at high power when compared to the other speakers. rear speakers are used only for rear fill in a sq vehicle, but quite a few people just run the same power all around because it sounds better in their preference (also quite a bit louder, though imaging is in the middle of the car instead of front). and they are not the last concern of true sound quality by any means. they are a whole lot more helpful in the quality of staging and imaging then the quality of an amp, or other processors.

I wouldn't do that...
I wouldn't do that. I have yet to hear of a head unit that can be bridged. A lot of heat would build up, decks are not meant to be used like this. I would just get a nice 4-ch. amp.

PPI amps are great! They have gone down in quality this year after they were bought by DEI, but if you get last year's or the year's before POWERCLASS, they sound awesome. PPI amps are known for their clean, warm sound. I would definetley recommend them, I have a PC4800, and a PC21400.
