Default can i place my sirius antenna upside down on the windsheild?

i want to place the antenna on the windsheild glass next to the rearview mirror, where the red box is in the photo.

think it will work? what about putting the antenna on the dash? i'm trying to aviod running wires all the way back to the hatch, and having an antenna on my paint.

the dash method is ok, but i dont want ot advertise that i've got aftermarket stuff, and the glass method would be better... if reception is ok.

whadda ya think?

Default Negative: There will hardly be any reception. Top section of the ANT should face the sky.

Default thats a nice clean install. what did you use to hold the antenna in place?

i'm reluctant to use an adhesive on the dash. suggestions?

Default thanks. ...using a very small piece of 3M double sided tape, almost too small.

its holding on very well and besides the footprint would be too small to notice. the adhesive can easily be removed with a touch of Goo Gone.

Default one thing that happens when leaving an antenna like that on the dash for any period isnt

the residue which as you mentioned can be removed with goo gone... it's the fading of the dash surrounding the antenna. I had a GPS antenna on the dash in my GTi and after 2 years of daily sun I had a nice dark spot where the antenna used to be.

How about mounting the antenna in the dash above the instrument cluster? Many GPS installs have been done like this.

Default the antenna is so small, if I ever take out the radio i could just leave

the antenna and it will look nearly factory.

i was considering making a mount that would put the antenna right side up, mounting on/near the rear view mirror, but that involves a lot more mcgivering and time, and it would also conflict with a V1 hardwire, should i ever go that route.
