Car PC power questions..
I am ready to install and finalize my carpc and touch screen installations. I have one question to ask. Is there an easy way to trigger a hibernate and resume feature via the serial port or USB port?
It would be great if the computer started up as soon as the car was turned on then maybe after it turns off a countdown of 2 minutes or so when it hibernates.
Someone had a program that was wired onto the serial port that when one of the pins looses power (5v) it would shutdown the pc.
The only other option I can think of is to make a relay that can pulse the power switch to on and again to pulse it to turn off.
I have no idea how to make a pulse relay. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yep, there's no room for it inside that case...
I have the same PC, I drilled a small hole in the PC's case to run the wire out of and have the starter unit/circuit in a project box (little plastic 2" x 2" box that I picked up at Radio Shack for $2.00), I soldered the leads from the circuit right to the motherboard.

That ITPS will not allow you to maintain power to the computer when you crank the car...
thus if you are listening to songs when the car is off and then start the car, the computer will reboot...
best option is this DC-DC ATX power supply (150W or 90W):

http://www.opussolutions.com</a
