Anyone relocate their CD magazine into the glove box on a C5 A6?

Different radio (?), different wiring, different glovebox internals, etc. ad nauseum. Think I'll devote some further research to it. What brought this up was my C240 rental yesterday, which had a very neat glovebox install. Of course, the box itself appears to have a much more useable space, even with the cartridge stuffed in there. Stay tuned....

<center><img src="http://www.vwnavi.com/vwnavi/photos/albums/userpics/Slide60.JPG"></center><p>the OEM 6 disc changer (with cartridge) wouldn't fit....however, you could install the glovebox version found in a B6 A4.

See my three different albums in the VWnavi.com forum...via my sig area. If you don't have a Nav+...then any version of this changer should work with you Sym I or Sym II.

FYI - A custom install is necessary...as the C5 glovebox was never designed for this location of the changer.

Damn. Looks like a major undertaking. Geeeez. I shall devote some further research. It seems that if offered on the A4, it SHOULD have been included for the seemingly upscale A6, but that's neither here nor there now, they chose not to do it. Further study will be required.

the C5 A6 has been around since mid-1997, for the 1998 model year. The B6 A4 came out in mid-2001...for the 2002 model year. Of course, the C6 A6 has the glovebox CD changer....as does the D3 A8.

If you look at my pix for the ME3 install...you'll see just how little room there is behind the glovebox. Just enough for a DIN sized unit.....and not a hair more.

I do agree with you though.
