Default cd changer(CX-DP610) for A3

Hi,

I have an A3(2000) and i am planning to install a cd changer. I read the treads and have some questions:

(1)I think Panasonic CX-DP610 changer is the one that Audi installs if you buy the cd changer from Audi.is that right?
(2)I think this is the most compatible one and will not cause any problems with random function.?
(3)Panasonic seems to be the best choice. Do you recommend other brands in terms and functinality instead of Panasonic?
(4)Do i need any other parts, cables, mounting bracelets that is not included in the CX-DP610 package?
(5)Any other service requirements to activate the cd functionality?
(6)it seems pretty straight forward to install the cd changer.any comments,is it a better idea to let the audi service install the cd changer i buy from panasonic?

thank you in advance,

Default Re: some answers

a had 2002 a3
starting from 2001, audi not fit the wires from the HU to the cd changer in the trunk.
if yours already had the cables (200 a3 still has it), and you want to use panasonic cd changer, you still have to buy the adapter. panasonic plug isn't the same as audi's. the good news is by using the adapter, you can use 8disc changer instead of 6. try searching on yahoo auctions. someone there sells it for about $280 including the adapter.

OR....if your car doesn't equipped with the wire, you might try using sony changer. use Connects2 adapter (www.connects2.co.uk). you can even use MP3 changer!!!

OR...you can use phatbox (www.phatnoise.com) they use harddisk, instead if cd's. check it out!

Thanks for the answers.I read in some mails in the forum that Audi also sells Panasonic cd changer. So in order to avoid any incompabilities i thought to use panasonic cd changer.

If sony and alpine work and are easier to install than panasonic,i can use any of them. Besides,mp3 functionality would be great.

So are u using sony cd changer which is also a mp3 player? what is the model number of you cd changer? can you use random play f(x)?

Default Re: not yet

i've already ordered the adapter. shoul be here next week. i have an old sony 6 disc changer for my a3. it's ols, but it's still made in japan (new version, began with Xplod, is made in malaysia. the japan made optics is better than malaysians).

check the website, you might find the sony mp3 changer model.

don't know that alpine changer fit in audi. did it also use interface adaptor like panasonic/sony?
