I have just installed a oem cd changer in my 2000 A6 (symphony/bose). The changer powers up, I can hear the disc loading mech, the head unit displays disc # and track info. My problem- No sound.
Any ideas? The indash cd works fine/radio works fine. I was told, after the fact, that the install procedure was to disconnect power to the hu (battery)/connect cd changer/reconnect battery. I did not do this, I simply plugged in the changer.

Okay, being new to this forum is there anyone who can verify if there is a vag setting that will enable sound from the cd changer to be played through the system? Or am I looking for another explanation? Thanks in advance

so that the HU resets and picks up the new peripheral. Make sure you have the 4 digit code for the radio though, otherwise it will lock you out.

Update: I disconnected the battery then reconnected the changer. Once again, the hu recognizes the changer, displays disc and track info, recognizes empty cd slots, but no sound. I have check the connector - ok. Thanks in advance for any info.

Any time you add a peripheral to a head unit, you have to reset it somehow. Generally, this is just done by disconnecting power for a few seconds. Also, check all your connections and make sure there are no serious kinks in the DIN cable (it happens sometimes, don't laugh!)
