CD changer options for 2001.5
Picking up my new A4, with the Symphony radio, this Monday (I can't believe that I am actually getting it). Anyway, I want to purchase a cd changer and all of the adaptors and installation brackets for it, and I don't have the slighest ideal where to start. I am open for any suggestions. I am looking to spend a couple of hundred dollars. Thanks in advance

The easiest thing to do would be to order the changer for $299 from Clair Parts. You should already have the bracket built in (it's holding the toolkit behind the door on the left side of the trunk), and the changer you get from Clair is a factory unit that's a direct plug in so you don't need any adapters. Check the Tech articles for installation instructions.

Clair Parts Express

I agree with what ebusch just told you. Clair has the best price out their for the Audi OEM changer, order it from them. The bracket is there, already. I have the A6 Avant, but I bet teh installation is essentially similar. Don't try to install the changer with the bracket in place. You have to first remove the bracket from its mountings, easy to do with a good socket set.
Take it out of the compartment, mount the changer, test it first, and then reinstall the bracket. Seriously, it should not take you more than 25 minutes to complete the whole task. Some of the dealers actually want to charge $200 to do this easy task, don't be fooled. It is really an easy matter to install. Look for the tech article, there is a very detailed description for the installation.

I actually Disagree. You can save $100 going thru autotoys.com
and there's another place that's even cheaper,
but I don't have the URL or the name (sorry).
Haven't checked autotoys in a while, but I got
an 8 disc changer, with the cable, and shipping
all for under $200.
Do the install yourself.
Good Luck.

8 disk changer
I heard about that 8-disk non-OEM unit that is out there. But is it not true that that it does not fully integrate with the head unit controls?
On the head unit, you have only 6 disk select buttons. How do you select the two?

Here's where I got my Panasonic changer...same as OEM but needs adapter
I had my doubts at first about ordering from an unknown vendor on the web but was very pleasantly surprised. They packaged the changer very carefully and shipped it right away. I had it within a week of ordering it (ground shipping).

Logjam Electronics
