Default Cell phone install questions

Hi... I recently got a pro install kit for my motorola T720 cell. I plan on installing this in my 2003 A4. While I have a pretty good idea of how to go about doing this, I'm a bit hung up when it comes to working with the factory radio. Ideally, I will get the sound from the phone to run through the front stereo speaker, and have the radio mute when ever the phone is in use. Can someone explain to me how to wire it this way? I've gotten a few descriptions involving wire harnesses and so forth, but very vague... I'm clueless! Thanks for any help!

PS I do have some proficiency in electrical wiring and what not, but am not too familiar with some of the lingo. Also, this kit includes one wire for the mute, and an aux speaker with two wires (which I could cut easily). Thanks!

Default You can access the radio mute and speaker (+/-) in the back of the Sym II head unit.

This is the best way. You'll need a few parts from the dealer. I have a v60 kit in my 2001 A6 (Symphony I headunit) and it is identical to the T720 (except for the cradle piece). Also, you'll need two sets of radio removal tools to help you pull ou the headunit.

10pin connector block: 357 035 447B
Electrical Terminal: 000 979 133 (you'll need three of these wires)

Here are some related posts that I archived...because this question comes up quite a bit.

Default That's easy, ...

I am not absolutely sure about Symphony, but in my Concert, there is a separate plug to connect the phone kit. You need the connector first, cut the speaker off the wire, and connect it to the connector. Mute cable goes there too. Should work, the only thing you can't alter the volume, as the speaker is just routed through the unit when you ar eon the phone, the signal is not amplified. If you have aftermarket amp, do not connect your speaker to the unit, just leave it inside the dash, it won't work like this.
