Default I just tested the Chorus unit from my 02 A4 and the front pre-outs work a treat

It is a non Bose HU, has never been a Bose HU and has no Bose on the display or grounded Bose pin.
So it would appear it is purely cosmetic.

Sorry, I must be experiencing a "brain fart"..so does this mean that the chorus, will drive the bose amps? (ft & rear)?

Thanks again!

Default The Bose coding can only possibly turn off the internal amp. It can't turn off the pre-outs

So you can use any HU without VAGCOM'ing it on a Bose system. The only possibly issue would be using a Bose coded HU on a non-Bose system as maybe the internal front amp would be switched off. I don't have VAGCOM to try it. But reagrdless of coding both front & rear pre-outs are live.

Default The result of the test was I found the incorrect wiring for the Bose amp.

Hooked it up and it just sparked... I probably fried the amp and I couldn't find another wiring diagram to test.

I went back and looked at this site and I guess the Bose setting is just cosmetic. However if it was non-Bose then the speaker setting may posibly be changed. It's all confusing me now and I haven't messed around with it enough to truly know what's going on.<ul><li><a href="http://www.ibiblio.org/tkan/audi/radios/concert.html">http://www.ibiblio.org/tkan/audi/radios/concert.html</a></li></ul>
