Finally, a US distributer is now carrying the traffic pro. According to crutchfield, it is made by HK, but it looks identical to the Becker unit. Finally, we can get an in dash player that matches the red console lights.

I have a 2001 TT with the Concert head unit, Bose and the 6-CD changer. Can this be dropped in place of the Concert unit? Will it control the changer? I'd really like to avoid replacing the whole system...

You will need to replace everything. It will not control the changer, and since you have the bose set up, you will need to get additional speakers, amps, sub, etc. as well.

You know, Alpine to Apline, Sony to Sony, etc.
The OEM amp has line-level inputs.
An after-market H/U can be connected to the existing amp and speaker setup, fairly easily.

sorry to hijack your thread, but this is exactly the topic I was about to post on. I have a TT and looking to replace the bose concert head unit. I have heard some conflicting info about what is amplified where.
Is the front speakers amp in the bose concert HU?
Is the rear and sub amp behind the driver seat in the roadster?
Is there someone that sells a wiring harness to interface my new head unit to the oem amp?
Any additional info would be appreciated.
Thanks,
=Doug

>Is the front speakers amp in the bose concert HU?
Do you have the Bose upgraded system?
If so, I'm not sure if the amp in the H/U drives the front speakers or not.
I'm positive in the non-"Bose" upgrade system the H/U drives the front speakers.
>Is the rear and sub amp behind the driver seat in the roadster?
The rear amp and sub amp are integrated into the amp for the sub-woofer. Check the link below for more details.

Not that I am aware of. You will need to wire into the OEM harness, from the harness of your new H/U.
Most new H/U's come with a plug that plugs into the back of the unit. This then trails wires, and possibly even RCA jacks. You will need to mate this set of wires to the appropriate places on the OEM harness.
It's not difficult, but a bit tedious, as the cable connectors are not very long, meaning you will need to work in close right at the dash opening.
See this oft-published pictorial to mate your new H/U to the OEM wiring harness.
