Default Cut Wiring Harness

Ok I drive an 03 Jeep Liberty and The wiring harness behind the cd player got cut (long, intoxicated story thanks to my stupid friend) Is it as simple as going out and getting a new one? One person told me it's gonna take alot more than that but I don't see what else it would take. The Jeep turns on for about 5 seconds, then the display says "no bus" and turns the jeep off. It did that about 4 times in the morning and then out of the blue i tried it again and it work...but nothing on the dashboard was working, no RPMs, MPH, gas or anything =[ later on that day tried it again and started getting the no bus thing again... can anyone enlighten me?
