My Denison allows my iPod to play but only in the iPod interface, I can't get it to go to the Denison interface.

I restored my iPod to factory specs.
I tried loading Denison operating 2.15 and 2.17 (it takes approx. 1 min for either to upload).
I left it on disc 6 for 30 min.
I followed the instructions from Denison for troubleshooting lack of Denison interface with disc 6.
I pulled the radio and reset all connections.
The iPod does work through the radio but only through iPod interface.
My steering wheel controls work to a degree (no playlist change and song gets replayed instead off next song).
The iPod does not shut off with radio but does turn on with radio.

Any ideas?

I took everything out of the car and reinstalled it. After cleaning the connectors, guess what, it seems to be working. I am going on my 16 min of upgradeing to ver. 2.17. I honestly have no idea as to why it works now, the only thing I have done differently was to clean the connectors so I can only assume there was an issue over time that prevented the contacts from working. Hopefully I won't need to do this in the future.
