Default i typically like to run two differnt size subs in the trunk...

...as maybe HIS4 remembers. Both of them low wattage...and amped individually. Just because i dont think i 10" can handle the rumble a 15" can.

1 10" and 1 15" would be my IDEAL trunk setup.

And for rears...id toy with throwing a component set back there for imaging as well...but only for the rear passengers. Tee driver would rely on the fronts.

Default I really wanted to pick up a set of Supremo components but it sounds like they won't fit in the door

The magnet on them is too wide and I've been told that they might require some cutting of the metal reinforcement on the door to clear the magnet.

I still wouldn't mind trying the Supremo Piccolo tweeter with another mid that might fit better.

Default Rear passengers? Who cares about the rear passengers!

Hell, i was going to have my rear passengers sit on a sub box with a small cushion on it instead of the rear seat in the Wrangler... Luckily for them, I was able to get a custom box between the back seat and the trunk (not much space) for 2 12s.

I had quick disconnects rear tweeters for the few times I was in the backseat, with a remote for the HU , and also for when the car was the sound system at the beach...

I've never heard what a 15 can do. Now I'm intrigued.

Default Maybe, and overpriced for sure. Remember that the typical person buying ...

a Lexus like the example car is not as critical and has less demanding expectations compared to an experienced audiophile like the owner of the car in this case.

Default LOL!! Normally i agree...but the A4 for me has become a bit of a touring car.

Road trips with friends and my general highway driver chauffer (sp?) position i usually get volunteered for. Shes not a speed demon...we all know that. =P

Running dual size sub setups required TONS of tuning time. I had it in a hatchback...and actually...the B5 is what ended my 6 hatch streak (Escort, CQ, Merkur, 944's....etc). The 944 was by far the most challenging car to make sound good...the airspace is very odd...and your head is actually closer to the rear channel speakers...

the right 15" speaker can do wonders for 45Hz and below. The 800w DVC visonik i have in a sealed enc was ridonk for what i needed it for.

Actually...want it? I dont need it anymore...

Default Yeah but all that stuff is pretty crucial to the operation of the car where audio system is just a

luxury...
It's fine that they offer it for dumbass's who don't care, but to require you to take a sound system they value at several G's when it's worth less then nothing to you is stupid and a waste of money and resources. It only encourages companies to make inferior products because they can continue to make a ridiculous premium on them. One of the terrible drawbacks to capitalism...

Default Yes, the magnet and basket is quite large on the midbass...

...I had to cut a small section of the metal in the rear doors of my car for them to clear.

The fronts weren't an issue due to my custom door panels.

Default I remember looking for the previous gen Lexus GS car with a friend..

...they packaged an option he really wanted with the overpriced audio (which he didn't want) and it was an $8,000 option package. There was no other way to get the single option he wanted.

Probably needless to say, he didn't buy the car.

Default They tried that with my mom's GS too. She wanted the backup camera.

They wanted $4k for the camera packaged with the DVD audio system. She left and a week later they called her back and offered her just the backup camera for $400.

Default

I have similar, except w/ 2x 10's. I could probably do 1 w/ better sub & /or amp.
