Easy-ish audio upgrade on base A3?

Wife just got a new A3 Premium. The base Audi sound system is (to my ears) shockingly bad (I know, the higher trim models have the B&O system but this is lacking enough that I suspect it's intentionally done to drive upsells). I'm somewhat experienced/confident in doing upgrades but loath to do a major disassembly on a new car. So, I'm looking for some low-risk, lower-effort upgrade paths. Doesn't have to be audiophile-quality but would like to get more power and presence and less tin-can sound. Crutchfield seems to have nothing useful.
Specifically,
1. are all the speaker grilles "molded in" or can any be removed without disassembly of door or dash panels? If so, are speakers accessible for upgrade? Are all the apparent speaker locations even used in the base model?
2. is there a known-accessible place for either line-level or speaker-level wires (to both channels) where I could put in a power booster (perhaps to the rear speakers if they are more accessible).
3. any firmware/software upgrade that would unlock better tone/EQ controls (a longshot, I know)?
Thanks

@JGM -- Pay for the 24-hour subscription from erwin.audi.com (or erwin.audiusa.com) and download all the service documentation for your A3 as PDF files. Repairs manuals show disassembly and control module pin-outs & wiring diagrams shows how they're all connected. A great value for US$35, IMHO. --g
