Default GPS Navigation - Has anyone put one in A4?

I want to put in a map-based (monitor displayed) GPS in my new A4. BUT...I don't want to replace the Bose head unit. Has anyone tried to install one (Alpine most likely) just below the a/c heat controls...replacing the ashtray? If not where else would you suggest? My last resort would be to remove the current unit. I am more interested with the navigation features rather than audi/video controls if this some how affects my choices.
Ideas on cost? Thanks all.

Default Sweet - Thanks - What are the specs?

Can you tell me what exactly you have in there?
Do you control all your function via the screen, is it a touch screen or do you use the buttons below it. Do you have a separate remote? What is below the screen: CD or DVD. Also how much did it cost, and did you upgrade other audio elements. Very nice looking setup, on a sweet car!!!

The garmin e-map fits pefectly in the dash
between the tach and speedo and is very portable. no mods needed, no mounting, leave in glove box til needed, also cheap!

Default Sorry for the late reply..

the units that I have in my car are Alpine IVA-C800 Multimedia Station, DVA-5205 DVD player, CHA-S624 CD Changer. and NVE-N851A DVD Navigation.
It's not a touch screen, I think touch screen will get messy after while, however, all the units can be control from the remote and the buttons below the screen also have some basic control functions, such as play, pause, skip...

I also replaced the rear speakers with component set, and planning to hook up an amp to it...Please email me if you have any other questions!

I've seen pictures of your navigation installation all over the place including Car Tunes......is that yours? Anyway, if you wouldn't mind telling me how that set you back without the new rear speakers I would love the input? I'm in the market for something like that
