Has anyone built a box and floor like this in an A4 Sedan?
Ok, it's official. I hate my dual 10" sub box in the trunk. I also hate having the amp bridge the rear seats.
I really like what this guy did with his original avant.

Now he's got a new avant and gone about it in basically the same way, except now it looks like he made a box for the spare tire well. I'm not sure I'm ready to part with my spare yet, so...

This page had pics that didn't load up the first time, keep hitting reload and they seem to all come up.
So, if anyone has pics like this of a sedan, or know how I would create the false floor to hold my amp, cap, and dual 10" subs I'd be most grateful!!
Thanks!!

Did that in an Outback

I turned the spare well into the subwoofer and was able to leave the spare in place (flipped over). The volume with the tire in place was almost perfect for the JL Audio 12" driver I picked. The lid/speaker baffle was hinged and locked in place. Picking the speaker was critical because of the limited distance between the backside of the lid and the backside of the inverted wheel.

Not at all...
The only thing I had to do that was unusual was to remove the under carpet pad above the driver itself. Luckily Subaru uses a lightweight carpet with open cell foam backing which had very little attenuation on anything under 200Hz.
The spare did have to be secured to the spare well (also helped make the floor of the well more rigid), otherwise no problems. If I was trying to do something like full range on that driver I might have had funny problems with the back wave reflections but at low frequencies unusual shaped enclosures can actually prove to be beneficial.
Probably the hardest thing was getting the flat baffle board to seal to the well opening which was clearly NOT intended to have a sealed cover attached.
