Default Help with B5 Avant rear speakers

Hey everyone. I'm in the middle of installing an amplifier in my 1999.5 A4 Avant and am in need of some help regarding the rear speakers.

I'd upgraded to Infinity components in front a while back, and figured this would be a good time to upgrade the rear door speakers, too. However, this doesn't seem as easy as I'd thought. Since the stock rear speakers are driven by a separate amp, I was planning to just run new speaker wire from my new Alpine amp to the new speakers in the doors. This looks next to impossible, though.

I figured I'd just leave the rear speakers stock, but am realizing after doing some searching on here that the rear amp is connected in with the subwoofer, which I've already removed (and would like to keep removed). So is there anywhere where I can tap into the speaker wires running into the doors? Or is there a relatively easy way to run speaker wire into the doors?

Thanks,
Mike

Default You should be able to...

connect the speaker outputs of the new amp to the wires running from the old factory amplifier.

You can also remove the interior B-pillar trim and pass new speaker wires through the boot, but that will be much more involved.

Default Post up in the B5 A4 forum, and ask someone to give you the info from the Bentley Manual..

..they will be able to tell you the correct colors of the wires leading to the speakers.

Default Thanks -- I need it. :-)

This project has been frustrating but rewarding so far... can't wait until it's done and everything's working properly.

Default Update: Wires figured out

With the help of the wiring diagram in the Bentley manual and a helper who's not colorblind I was able to figure out which wire is which in the plug that goes into the "tupperware" sub/amp. In case anyone else is undertaking this sort of project, the blue/green and brown/red wires lead to the speaker in the left rear door and the red/green and brown/black wires lead to the speaker in the right rear door.
