Default help me please

Well, I attempted my first audio install today...I ended up going with an MTX amp and instead of the 1 12 inch sub i had originally planned, got a really good deal on 2 10 inch MTX subs. The install went relatively (and i'm using this term loosely) smoothly, up until I tried to connect and power everything...the amp turned on, had power from the battery and a signal. But when I turned the radio off, the amp's power LED was still on. This amp has MTX's smartengage which supposedly controls when power is on/off based on whether or not the amp gets a signal. So....what I'm wondering is, is the LED supposed to still be on when the radio is off or does that mean that this smartengage thing is crap and my battery will be dead soon? Thanks in advance

Default do you have an instruction manual?? a place to start would be to check that the remote turn on wire

for the amp is connected to the proper source on the HU.

Default If you are connecting the amp to the factory radio remote wire, make sure it is the white wire.

This applies to both the BOSE and non-BOSE system. On the non BOSE system the wire can be found at the rear left deck speaker, on the 9-pin connector

Default The instruction manual says...

that because i'm using speaker level inputs (spliced from the factory sub) i don't need a remote turn on wire. but the amp LED seems to be telling me that i do need one

Default Does the led's change when it does get a signal.

I don't know anything about those amps, but maybe that led thats on is like a standby one. Still, it's not a good idea to have the amp on when the car is shut off, but if its just a standby led then it would be ok.

Default Generally speaking, most amps don't keep their led's on after the car is off....the only other thing

that I can figure is that you might have some line noise and that's keeping the amp on....

gotta fix it or make sure it's not draining your battery...bad news...
