Default How good quality of audio sound will I get if I change ...(More)

my factory stero(Delta) to Sony CDX-M620 (52W X 4) without adding any thing else? Anyone has suggestions? I really wanna know if it's worth paying for it. I know it will be nice to add like amp, speaker, boom, etc., but no money. So, how about only the receiver?
Thank you

Default it will definately be better than stock

The upgrade in the amp quality and also the better quality CD DACs will probably be enough for you notice a difference with an aftermarket unit. I shudder when anyone says they're gonna stick with the stock headunit just for looks because they're really never going to get the best quality sound out of their system...

Default I recommend eclipse too, but I think their full potential is realized

on the models that don't have an onboard amp, just 6-8v of clean amp pre-out. That would force you to buy an amp... and speakers.... and good ones too... because why get so much SQ out of the headunit if it won't be put to use by the amps/speaker (not to say that my amps/speaks couldn't use some improving).

So, if I buy a unit that has 6-8v amp pre-out, I don't need to buy an amp seperatly? You mean the 6-8v amp pre-out itself is an amp?

Default no... it means you have to buy an amp. these models DO NOT include an onboard amp

they just have preouts, no speaker outs.

Pre-out means a signal that is ready to be amplified.

An advantage to these models is that there is no distortion from an amplifier anywhere near the headunit.

Default unless you're a true audio fanatic or going into competition

i have always felt that driving you're full range speakers with an amp to be too much. i don't listen to music that loud and i don't think many people do either...well enough to really benefit from an amp. get an eclipse HU with power and some really efficient speakers...like Boston FX series or the Eclipse integrated series.

and if you need more bass, add an infinty basslink

Is there any difference between expensive brand name amps and cheaper amps both with same watts?
I really appreciate your help.

Default yes!

You CANNOT just go by wattage ratings. One cheap amp maker may rate it 100x2 but its at some insanely high THD (total harmonic distortion) which means you wont get that power with the amp distorting and that makes for bad music and can damage speakers

Default yes definitely. don't buy cheap amps. they're cheap for

a reason. i suggest going to you're nearest audio shop and listen to whatever audio component you are about to buy. only you can decide whether you like the sound or not.

personally i would spend the least amount on audio and more on performance items.
